Delilah had her professional photo shoot yesterday. Isn't she beautiful? After having her looked at by our vet this past week, we have been referred to the same specialist that did mine and Mr Magoo's eyelid reconstruction last year. In order to do this we are looking for medical sponsorship to help the rescue defray some of the costs incurred for my treatment. Please consider a contribution in any amount (every little bit helps) to Kitty City Kansas Rescue (kittycityks@aol.com) via Paypal. There is also a link on the group website at www.kittycityks.com. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Additionally, we think my sisfur is now in da house!!! Humom picked up a female version of me on Tuesday. When we took her to the vet and she was aged same as me and we realized she came from the same shelter with the same eye issues, we couldn't help but think she's related. This is Delilah!!
We're going to be starting a fundraising endeavor to help with her surgery costs. Once that's set up, I'll share the link. Looks like she's going to be with us for a little while.
Fang and Tango (black kitties) go to their new homes on Saturday and Azure was adopted last Saturday :)

You have got to be kidding!!!!!
Humom has lost it!!! Where in the heck did this thing come from?
Humom brought "Charlie" home Friday! He's apparently a stray a friend of hers found. She's arranged rescue for the little guy but he's gotta stay until fully vetted.
Saturday she brought home another mom with 4 babies. Cashmere is what she named the new girl and she's already got a live webcam feed for them set up.
I swear she's lost it. That makes:
Calypso w/2 babies
Guinevere w/5 babies
Cashmere w/4 babies
Nutmeg (give birth anytime)
2 little black kitties (Fang and Tango) that go to their new homes next Saturday
Mandolin, Sybil and the 5 permanent residents (including me)
And a Wolfie named Charlie.
God help us if someone reports us.........

Another Pregnant Mom
So, we had another pregnant mom join us yesterday. Humom named this girl Nutmeg. She's a gorgeous Torti with a pretty sad story. I'm sure there is more to it than what Humom has been told but the gist of the story was that the owner was just going to dump her "out".
When humom went to meet the lady (friend of the owner supposedly) in a public place yesterday, she had no idea what to expect. The only reason she went was because another volunteer called to ask if she could take this mom in. All Humom was told was that the owner had this pregnant mom and 4 other 1 year olds that she was not willing to take to a shelter and was ready to just dump them. According to other info, the pregnant mom just keeps having litters because they had not spayed her and she was around un-altered males. Additionally, the woman that handed her over informed that she refuses to use a litter box and had to be let outside to do her business. So in other words this kitty has probably spent most of her life raising litter after litter thus far. The only question the lady surrendering the cat asked was, "she's not going to a shelter right?"
Nutmeg doesn't appear to be too old. Humom is guessing 2-3 at most. She's also super friendly for the most part. She's a wee bit stressed being so pregnant and being in a new environment though. She keeps trying to escape the room humom gave her. When she tried yesterday humom used her foot to block her path and got chomped on.

Now she understand this was as a result of stress and isn't angry at Nutmeg for it. Then this morning when humom attempted to leave the room again after cleaning, Nutmeg bit her finger. We're all hoping the biting stops once she calms down and acclimates to her new space.
Humom also set up a live feed for this girl called "Nutmeg Cam" and the link can be found on the right side of this blog.
Don't forget about Calypso and her 2 munchkins (now 10 days old) and Guinevere and her 5 (now almost 4 weeks old). Guinevere's kids are starting to show interest in mom's food and are starting to wrestle with one another....so cute!!!

Foster - Baby updates
New Momma we got on Thursday was named Spice. Unfortunately, due to a naming conflict, we ended up going with our backup name of Calypso.
Calypso (the gorgeous Torti) started nesting, stretching, etc at around 10pm Friday. She had her fist kitten at 4am Saturday. This little ginger is really strong and doing great. Unfortunately Calypso's second baby was a breach birth. Humom was there and helped to get the baby out, but it did not make it. Her 3rd baby had a situation that is seen even in human births. The poor little thing had it's insides (abdominal parts attached to umbilical) actually on the outside and was not breathing at birth. So Calypso only has the one biological kitten that is now 1.5 days old.
Because we as a group still had 2 newborn orphans not on a mom, and were bottle feeding, we discussed and decided to try them with Calypso. Unfortunately, when we spoke to the bottle feeder we found they were not doing well and one had actually not survived. The second one has been accepted by Calypso and is doing well. Still tiny at 4 days old but getting stronger.
Calypso's kittens (bio and orphan) have already been named. Ginger is "wiggle" and Tabby is "bean"
Momma Guinevere is doing fabulous with her 5 munchkins. We plan to upgrade her cam today for better images of her and babies. These guys turn 3 weeks old in a few days. These guys have not yet been named.
The four little black kittens at 9 weeks are doing well also. Two (Ace and Vadar) have already been pre-adopted and will got to their forever homes next Saturday. Fang and Tango still have a bit more weight to gain :)
That just leaves, Sybil (adult Torti-point Siamese), Azure (adult Russian Blue that mom found as stray) and Mandolin. All are available for adoption, and all are still doing well.
That sums up our current house guests at the moment. Things change quickly around here :)

Foster changes!
Today was a busy one!! Humom took Momma Zoe to the Vet just to make sure everything was good with her and her munchkin. She checked out fine! While in town Humom got the call about 4 orphans dropped at a local shelter. According to the info these guys were really young. She mentioned trying a couple on Zoe since she lost 2 of her babies and could support more than the one she had. Humom hung around and waited to meet the 4 orphans.
Zoe did great!! She accepted the 2 smallest of the orphans. The sad thing was these little darlings may have been 2-3 days old. They still had cords!! They were brought into the animal shelter without the mom and just dropped off! How sad!! They were terribly cold and hungry! The two with Zoe may not make it but they latched on right away and Zoe treated them as they were her own.
Sad for humom, Zoe transferred to another foster home this evening. This was so humom could take another pregnant mom that is about ready to burst. This new girl is so ready to pop her milk is already fully in. She could give birth any minute now. She can be watched on the link that was Zoe's cam from the previous blog post. She is also yet to be named......
